Hooray! February 27th is National Kahlúa Day. Also known as our favorite day of the year. When we raise our glasses to the smooth, rich, and velvety wonder that is Kahlúa.

This day is all about honoring our vibrant Mexican heritage and celebrating the world-famous coffee liqueur that transforms ordinary drinks, bakes and occasions into extraordinary experiences.

As the star ingredient in so many popular cocktails around the globe, like the Espresso Martini and the White Russian, it’s no wonder Kahlúa has its own special day.

To make it extra fun, we’ve put together some delicious drink recipes, party ideas, Kahlúa trivia, and fun ways to celebrate this special occasion together!

Did you know?

It’s no coincidence National Kahlúa Day is in February. It’s the same month as the official Carnival festival in Veracruz, Mexico. The home of Kahlúa Original. Where people traditionally take to the streets to celebrate joyfulness with extravagant costumes, lively music, and colorful parades. Sounds like fun to us!

SHORT HISTORY OF KAHLÚA

Kahlua’s rich and colorful history started in 1936 in Mexico, when a local rum producer and coffee farmers got together to create a rich and velvety smooth coffee liqueur.

Over the decades, Kahlúa captivated the world with its versatility, since it’s perfect for all types of occasions, authentic flavor and unmistakable taste. Being featured in countless movies, series, and songs, it has become somewhat of a cult classic.

Today, Kahlúa is made using the finest 100% Arabica coffee beans and is the hero ingredient in many of the world’s most loved cocktails, like the Espresso Martini, White Russian, and Frozen Mudslide, just to name a few. Turning any coffee or average drink into a delicious coffee cocktail.

That’s probably why it’s still one of the world’s most iconic coffee liqueurs.

HOW TO CELEBRATE NATIONAL KAHLÚA DAY 

We love National Kahlúa Day! It’s the perfect excuse to indulge in the rich, velvety taste of our favorite coffee liqueur. It doesn’t matter if you’re a seasoned Kahlúa fan or a newbie to our yummy flavors, we’ve put together five fun ways for you to celebrate this delicious day.

Host a Kahlúa cocktail party 

Invite friends over for a Kahlúa-themed cocktail party. We suggest mixing up some of the classics above like the White Russian and Espresso Martini, or even getting adventurous with concoctions like the Kahlúa Gin & Tonic. Our pro tip: set up a DIY cocktail station with different mixers and garnishes so guests can craft their own creations. Just don’t forget the recipe cards.
